Fishbowl Names Micheal Wagner as Chief Product and Technology Officer

AI/ML and digital transformation expert to lead product innovation and technology strategy as Fishbowl accelerates next phase of growth

Salt Lake City, Utah — August 20, 2025 — Fishbowl Inventory, a leader in inventory management solutions for small and midsize businesses, today announced the appointment of Michael Wagner as Chief Product and Technology Officer. Michael is a results-driven and collaborative leader with a customer-first mindset and a proven record of delivering innovative, revenue-driving products and services.

With deep expertise in AI/ML, SaaS solutions, digital transformation, and data-driven product development, Michael will lead Fishbowl’s product strategy, innovation, and engineering initiatives to accelerate the company’s growth and enhance customer value.

Michael’s career highlights include:

  • Founding and leading product strategy and engineering for a retail software startup—offering solutions for ordering, receiving, inventory management, price maintenance, shelf checks, and POS & WMS integration—driving profitability within four years and sustaining year-over-year growth until the company’s sale.
  • Spearheading the digital transformation of a monolithic Java/PostgreSQL application into a composable, service-oriented SaaS solution on Azure Cloud, significantly improving scalability and agility.
  • Overseeing development of five distinct Microsoft (.NET/C#) technology stacks across six global locations, deployed across Azure, AWS, and GCP, with a back-end Azure Data Lakehouse leveraging Databricks and Confluent Cloud to power advanced analytics.

“Michael’s ability to bridge technology and customer value is exactly what Fishbowl needs as we enter our next phase of growth,” said Chris Porch, CEO of Fishbowl Inventory. “His experience in AI/ML, product management, and large-scale digital transformations will be instrumental in delivering solutions that not only meet but anticipate customer needs.”

Michael is guided by a simple but powerful philosophy: “The real breakthrough comes when you stop asking how AI can help your business and start asking how it can help your customers. That’s when everything else falls into place.”

In his new role, Michael will focus on advancing Fishbowl’s product innovation, leveraging emerging technologies, and ensuring the company continues to deliver best-in-class inventory solutions for QuickBooks and Xero users in the manufacturing, wholesale, and e-commerce sectors.
