The Sales Order module is the first module in the Sales group. You can use it to generate sales orders, credit returns, and drop ship orders, as well as fulfill those orders, receive payments from customers, create invoices, and edit sales orders in a number of ways. We’ll get into all of that in greater detail.
You’ll find all of your open sales orders in the Search window on the left side of the interface. If you want to see something other than open orders, you can click on the Status box above the Search button and choose from:
- All Open
- In Progress
- Closed Short
Drilling Into Sales Orders
Once you click on a particular sales order, you will find four tabs at the top of the window on the right. These tabs are:
- General: The default tab that shows information pertaining to the customer, billing, shipping, tax, and product(s) in the order.
- Details: Even more information about the customer, as well as the salesperson, shipping terms, payment terms, carrier, and weight of the order.
- Memo: A place to leave handy notes on the order.
- Custom: Various custom fields, which can be modified to include any other information you find important.
There are all sorts of things you can do in the Sales Order module. On the right of the order you can edit it, delete it (if it hasn’t been picked yet), fulfill it, quickly add parts to it, set a discount, and estimate the subtotal of certain line items.
You can also look up at the top tab under the main headers and you’ll find plenty of other options, which we’ll go through quickly because you’ll be able to figure out most of them based on their names:
- Close Short
- SO to PO
- Quick Fulfill
- UPS Rates
- To Pick
We’ve got plenty of other modules to cover in the Sales module group. We’ll see you next week when we sift through the Picking module.
