Fourth annual service project will improve Barnett Elementary School Library
OREM, Utah, August 31, 2012 – Fishbowl® (http://www.fishbowlinventory.com) will shut down business for a day on Friday, Sept. 7 and go with employees and their families to sort, bag, barcode and label books at Barnett Elementary School’s Leveled Library – a teacher resource that provides reading materials specific to each child’s reading level – in Payson, Utah as part of the company’s fourth annual Day of Service.
“Our employees always look forward to the Day of Service,” said Fishbowl CEO David K. Williams. “Fishbowl is built on a foundation of caring for one another and the community. As part of our 7 non-negotiables, this is a chance to show our gratitude every year.”
After getting books labeled and in the correct bags, Fishbowl’s near-100 employees and their families will reorganize the books into various levels so children take home the most appropriate books for their reading abilities. Other projects at the event include putting together learning kits, repairing the school’s picnic tables, and refurbishing the children’s “wall ball” structure.
"With the pressures of a new common core and budget cuts for the school, it's an amazing gift to have Fishbowl supporting us and our students,” said Barnett Elementary teacher Ronda Hair. “The service offered by Fishbowl is immediately benefitting more than 600 students whose teachers are already stretched thin and will have lasting impact for years to come. We're so grateful for Fishbowl taking the time to serve the community and help the teachers of Barnett make a difference for our children."
Each year Fishbowl selects projects that will have the greatest effect on the local community. In these past Day of Service projects, Fishbowl organized computer labs and libraries for Cherry Creek Elementary, repaired the playground area at the House of Hope – a treatment center for women and children, and went to Mountainland Head Start schools to paint buildings, remove old brush, and clean up playground areas.

“Fishbowl employees feel the gratitude that comes from being part of this community,” said Cade Close, Fishbowl Day of Service organizer. “The Day of Service allows us to show our gratitude to the community for the support they have shown us. We want to make a difference for the kids at this school because of the values that Fishbowl teaches its employees.”
