When you first started your business, you, your employees, and your equipment did not need more than simple safety measures to stay secure. You only needed strong locks, a basic fire alarm system, and a rudimentary burglar alarm.
However, since that time, your business has grown to fill several floors in your office building. Or perhaps your company now occupies an entire structure. You have hundreds of employees and thousands of dollars of vital equipment. Simple safety measures will not be enough to fortify your business any longer. To ensure your company stays secure, implement the steps and strategies listed below.
1. Regularly Train Your Employees on Safety
You likely give your employees an overview of safety procedures when you first hire them. However, that overview will not stay fresh in your workers’ minds for long. At least every six months, train and retrain each employee on how to respond to various disasters, such as fires, floods, inclement weather, and armed intruders. Remind your workers how to properly operate each piece of equipment as well.2. Supplement Your Fire Alarms with Other Detectors
Fire and smoke don’t account for every contaminant that could fill your office’s air. Carbon monoxide, radon, and natural gas may as well. Install detectors for each of these dangerous and potentially fatal gases around your workplace.
