Fishbowl's New 5.0 Features
This short video gives a brief overview of some of the exciting new features in the 5.0 release of Fishbowl Inventory.
QuickBooks is set to only use Average Costing methods, but with the integration of Fishbowl you can now use LIFO, FIFO, Standard, or Average Costing accounting methods.
Benefit:
Enjoy the flexibility of choosing between several accounting methods while still integrating with QuickBooks, which only uses Average Costing.
From a single module, view all the information that is needed for the return process, including:
- Original purchase date
- Customer that purchased
- Tracking information (serial number, lot number, revision number, expiration date)
- Original sales order number
Choose from four different RMA item types: Credit, Replacement, Substitution, and Repair. Specify the reason for the return, and then easily generate an RMA number for authentication. Other fees such as repair or restocking fees may be added as desired.
Benefit:
In one location, easily view the pertinent information that is necessary to quickly and efficiently issue a return to a customer.
Manage your inventory assets while they are located in external locations. Determine the age of stock, as well as what has been used, sold, or missing. Easily create Purchase Orders to replenish the specific remote locations.
Benefit:
Control inventory in remote locations, and replenish it quickly and efficiently using the Transfer and Purchase Order wizards.
Sell a product to a customer and have the Vendor deliver it directly to that customer without it ever passing through your warehouse. If your inventory is out of stock when placing it on a Sales Order, you are now given the option to have it drop shipped. This will, in turn, create a Purchase Order with their address as the receiving location. You may also set a part to always be drop shipped from a specific vendor. Although this inventory never mixes with your local inventory, full tracking capabilities are available.
Benefit:
Maximize your profit by selling/managing products that you do not even have to have in stock, reducing shipping and stocking costs.
Once placed on a Purchase Order, any part can be outsourced by changing the type field. Then pick, pack, and ship the part for repair or modification. Once this is completed, receive it back into Fishbowl, and if desired, add the cost to the value of the part.
Benefit:
Accurately keep track of your profits with the ability to add value/costs to parts/products throughout the outsourcing process. Know which parts are outsourced, their return date, the vendor working on them, and their expected cost.
Resolve inconsistencies between purchase orders and invoices for received parts. Inventory can now be received with or without a bill. Add landed costs to specific parts to keep QuickBooks' and Fishbowl's accounting in sync.
Benefit:
Easily and quickly keep your books balanced without leaving Fishbowl. Now you can receive shipment and reconcile the cost(s) at a later date.
Use the Landed Cost wizard to distribute taxes, shipping costs, and other miscellaneous costs to all or specific parts that are received. These costs can be added before or after the part is received.
Benefit:
Accurately keep track of your profits with the ability to properly add shipping costs, taxes, and miscellaneous costs to the overall cost of the part.
Easily move any amount of inventory within the warehouse or from one warehouse to another. If desired, inventory can be put through Order, Pick, Pack, Ship, and Receive processes. Clear out an entire location and everything to its default location in one step. If a location is low on inventory, restore it to its proper levels by running the new Replenish Wizard.

Increase your capacity, flexibility, control, and create a paper trail to streamline the movement of inventory wherever it is needed.
The receiving module has been overhauled to allow greater control when receiving Purchase Orders (POs), Sales Orders (SOs), and Transfer Orders (TOs) into inventory. If your PO price is different from your invoice, use the Reconcile feature to balance your books. The overall structure has been changed from part-based to order-based, to increase functionality.
Benefit:
View and control all your SOs, POs, and TOs in one location. Now you have the ability to receive parts separately or as a group, quickly reconcile, as well as add landed costs.
Multiple shipping, taxes, and miscellaneous line items can be added to Purchase Orders and Sales Orders, matching QuickBooks' established method of ease and functionality.
Benefit:
Charge taxes, shipping fees, or other fees to multiple customers, or pay them to vendors and tax agencies.
With one button, you can duplicate Sales Orders, Purchase Orders, Parts, and Products. The Duplicate button will create a carbon copy of the Order, Part, or Product. The next sequential order number will be assigned to the duplicate Order, while the Part and Products will create a "Copy of (name)" part or product, respectively.
Benefit:
This is extremely convenient when creating similar Parts, Products, or Orders with only slight modifications.
