Quansys BioSciences is a diagnostic manufacturer that develops multiplex ELISA tests enabling researchers to measure dozens of biomarkers from a single blood sample. With a growing catalog of highly sensitive tests and a strong focus on quality, they needed a system that could support complex unit conversions, track expiration and lot numbers, and streamline their internal inventory movement.
After evaluating multiple small ERP systems, Quansys selected Fishbowl to modernize their materials management and production workflows.
The Challenge
As both a research-focused and manufacturing-driven company, Quansys needed greater visibility into their inventory and production processes. Their previous systems couldn’t handle unit conversions between liquid volumes like microliters and liters, nor could they manage expiration date tracking or custom lot reporting—critical features in a life sciences environment.
“I came from compressor manufacturing, where we tracked parts by quantity. But here, we’re working with grams, microliters, and expiration dates. Fishbowl gives us the flexibility and traceability we need.” — Stacey Hansen, Quality & Materials Manager
The team also needed the ability to restrict purchases to approved vendors, create custom pick reports, and gain insight into incoming inventory schedules—all while working across departments with different needs and inventory use cases.
The Solution
Fishbowl’s flexible features allowed Quansys to build workflows tailored to their business. Unit of measure conversions made it possible to stock and consume materials in any size—from gallons down to microliters—while expiration and lot tracking ensured compliance and quality control.
Custom reports were created to support their internal QC processes, including pick reports that now include lot numbers and expiration dates, eliminating the need for manual workarounds. Fishbowl’s calendar module also gave them an easy way to track incoming POs and manage production visibility.
“When someone asks where a PO is, I can look at the calendar and see exactly when it’s scheduled to arrive. That kind of visibility makes a big difference.” — Stacey Hansen
The production team continues to explore additional features like work order scheduling, and they value Fishbowl’s ability to grow with them.
“We’re mostly in love with the software. There are still features we haven’t fully adopted, but the ones we use have really helped us organize and improve our processes.” — Ryan Jacobson, Production Manager
The Results
Quansys has improved how it tracks raw materials and finished goods, manages vendor relationships, and meets internal quality standards. The Fishbowl implementation allowed the company to streamline key operations without needing a full enterprise ERP.
“The conversions alone are one of the main reasons we’ve stuck with Fishbowl. That flexibility is key for us.”
