Oliver Smith & Co. LLC, based in Atlanta, Georgia, is a private label manufacturer creating custom-designed gift and lifestyle products for national retail chains including Barnes & Noble, Cracker Barrel, and Saks Off 5th. Their product line spans stationery, glassware, accessories, and most recently, boutique candles, which are produced in-house at their Georgia-based candle facility.

“We do everything custom,” said Michele Brigham, VP of Operations. “From bookmarks to pens to luxury candles, every item is designed around our retail partners’ themes and specifications.”

Founded in 2019, the company quickly grew into a go-to supplier for fully branded, seasonal, and promotional merchandise.

The Challenge

Oliver Smith & Co.’s catalog is constantly evolving. Every item is unique—created for a specific promotion, season, or retail concept. With that level of customization came real operational complexity.

The team needed a way to:

  • Track raw materials like wax, fragrance, and packaging for their candle line
  • Price and manage small-batch custom orders with accuracy
  • Coordinate both overseas sourcing and in-house production
  • Eliminate spreadsheets and bring structure to growing operations

“Everything starts from scratch,” Michele explained. “Every order is different, so we needed a system that gave us clarity and consistency.”

The Solution

Oliver Smith & Co. implemented Fishbowl to bring control to their inventory, production, and order workflows—especially for their boutique candle operation. The team can now manage component inventory, generate work orders, and track costs across complex, one-off jobs.

Fishbowl’s integration with QuickBooks keeps inventory and financials tightly aligned. This ensures accurate reporting, simplifies reconciliation, and allows the team to stay lean without losing insight.

While they’re also using TrueCommerce to manage vendor communications and purchase orders, that solution currently operates outside of Fishbowl—but remains an important part of their broader toolset.

“Fishbowl gives us the structure to manage our production in-house,” said Michele. “And QuickBooks ties it all together on the financial side.”

The Results

Since implementing Fishbowl, Oliver Smith & Co. has seen significant improvements in:

  • Inventory clarity: Accurate tracking of raw materials, WIP, and finished goods
  • Job costing: Better visibility into labor and material costs for custom work
  • Production control: Smoother workflows for both international sourcing and local manufacturing
  • Financial integration: Seamless syncing with QuickBooks for accounting accuracy
  • Scalability: Confidence to grow their candle business and support large retail programs

“We needed a system that could grow with us. Fishbowl gives us the visibility and control we just didn’t have before.” – Michele Brigham, VP of Operations

“I can’t imagine going back to spreadsheets. With Fishbowl, I know exactly where we stand, and I can make decisions with confidence.”

What’s Next

With a growing custom candle line and a roster of top retail partners, Oliver Smith & Co. is continuing to scale its operations while preserving the boutique quality and flexibility that defines the brand. Fishbowl and QuickBooks form the operational core, and the team is exploring opportunities to further streamline systems—including a potential integration between Fishbowl and TrueCommerce in the future.
