Create a new location Template:Top

Use the following steps to create a new location.

Location details.png
  1. Click the New Button.png New button located on the module toolbar in the Small.Location.png Location module.
  2. Under the General tab, enter a name, description, and location type.
  3. Choose a location group. Each location must be assigned to a location group. If the desired location group has not yet been created, visit the Small.Location Group.png Location Group module to create new location groups.
  4. If desired, choose a default customer for the location. This option is often used for consignment locations.
  5. Choose a location tag. A location tag is a unique number associated with each location. Fishbowl will automatically enter the next available number, or a custom number may be entered. The location tag is primarily used in barcodes and in Fishbowl Mobile. When printing location labels, the barcode contains the location tag number. When the location label is scanned, or the location tag number is entered in places such as Fishbowl Mobile, the location name will automatically be filled in.
  6. Specify whether the location is the default, available for sale, active, pickable, or receivable. Any boxes left unchecked will deny those functions for this location.
  7. Click the Save Button.png Save button in the module toolbar.

Locations can also be imported from a spreadsheet.

Location sort order Template:Top

Sort Order organizes a pick for a sales order according to the placement of the items in the warehouse. While a sales order will list items in the order that they were added to the sales order, a pick ticket uses sort order to sort items by their locations so that they can be picked efficiently.

To modify sort order for all locations, click on the Sort Order Button.png Sort Order button located in the module toolbar. Change the order of the locations in the list by highlighting the location and clicking on the blue up or down arrow on the right of the window. Click OK. The new sort order will now be applied to all future pick tickets.

To create a pick ticket that organizes items to match the sales order instead of sorting by location, click the Start Button.png Start button for the desired pick, and then click Preview. Click Modify Report at the top of the preview window, switch to the Optional tab, and deselect Sort By Location. Click OK.

Location Options:

  • Default location for this location type and group - If you have multiple locations of the same type, you can set one as the default for each location group.
  • Available for Sale - If this option isn't selected, inventory in this location will be classified as Not Available.
  • Active - Uncheck this checkbox if the location should no longer be used for moving, picking, receiving, etc. This overrides the Pickable and Receivable options (i.e. you cannot have an Inactive Pickable Location).
  • Pickable - Unchecking this box will prevent inventory in this location from being picked. This inventory will also be excluded from the Available To Pick total.
  • Receivable - Unchecking this box will prevent inventory from being received into this location.
