Create a new location Template:Top

Use the following steps to create a new location.

Location details.png
  1. Click the New Button.png New button located on the module toolbar in the Small.Location.png Location module.
  2. Under the General tab, enter a name, description, and location type.
  3. Choose a location group. Each location must be assigned to a location group. If the desired location group has not yet been created, visit the Small.Location Group.png Location Group module to create new location groups.
  4. If desired, choose a default customer for the location. This option is often used for consignment locations.
  5. Choose a location tag. A location tag is a unique number associated with each location. Fishbowl will automatically enter the next available number, or a custom number may be entered. The location tag is primarily used in barcodes and in Fishbowl Mobile. When printing location labels, the barcode contains the location tag number. When the location label is scanned, or the location tag number is entered in places such as Fishbowl Mobile, the location name will automatically be filled in.
  6. Specify whether the location is the default, available for sale, active, pickable, or receivable. Any boxes left unchecked will deny those functions for this location.
  7. Click the Save Button.png Save button in the module toolbar.

Locations can also be imported from a spreadsheet.

Auto create locations Template:Top

To auto create locations, use the following steps.

  1. Click the Auto Create Button.png Auto Create button on the module toolbar.
  2. Specify the Location Group for the new locations. Click Next.
  3. Create levels for warehouse organization and choose the number of locations to create at each level. This function is used to describe exactly where to find an item in a warehouse and to translate that information to a location barcode label. A level can be an aisle, a shelf, a bin, or any custom term. Up to four levels can be used. Place a zero in lower levels to create fewer than 4 levels. The Number of locations to create at this level value describes how many bins, shelves, etc. there will be in each level. For example, creating 4 shelves in level 1 and 4 bins in level 2 will assign 4 bins to each shelf, for a total of 16 bins. This number will also determine the code length for this level. Click Next.

  4. Choose names for up to four levels of hierarchy. These names will be displayed on barcode labels. Alternating naming conventions between levels will make it easier to visually determine levels. Click Next.

  5. The final screen will display a summary of how many locations will be created based on the specifications entered throughout the wizard. To create the locations click Finish.

If an error is made while creating locations, multiple locations can be deleted at once by using the shift key to select them in the search pane and then clicking the Delete Button.png Delete button in the module toolbar at the top.

Location sort order Template:Top

The Sort Order will organize your pick according to the order specified in the Location Sort Order. Items on your Pick will be organized according to the placement and order of locations in the Sort Order instead of the placement and order of locations on the sales order.

Click on the Sort Order Button.png Sort Order button located in the module toolbar. Specify the location order you would like your picks to be organized by highlighting the location and clicking on the blue up or down arrow to the right of the sort order wizard. Click OK at the bottom of the Location Sort Order box to save your changes. The order of items will now be arranged according to the Location Sort Order instead of the location arrangement on the sales order.
