Icon.Transfer Order.png The Transfer Order module, located in the Materials group, allows items to be transferred between locations by either shipping or moving the items. Items can also be moved to the part's default location and replenished according to the part's reorder levels.

1. Create a transfer order

To create a transfer order, open the Transfer Order module and click the New Button.png New button on the module toolbar. A blank transfer order will have been created on the Main Screen with the Default Location Groups entered into the To and From boxes.

Order types

Select the Type of transfer order from one of the following three options:

  1. Ship - Items can be transferred to any specified location. To complete the transfer order, the items will be picked, packed, shipped, and received.
  2. Move - Items can be transferred to any specified location. The items only need to be picked to complete the transfer order.
  3. Putaway - Items are transferred to the part's default location within the specified location group. The items only need to be picked to complete the transfer order.

2. Add items

The next step in creating a transfer order is to add items. This may be done by selecting items from the Part list by clicking the Drop Down Arrow Icon Button.png Drop Down Arrow button, by clicking the Search Icon Button.png Part Search button, or by typing the part and then pressing enter.

A miscellaneous item can also be added by clicking the Add Icon Button.png Add Misc Item button. Once items have been added, they may be edited or deleted by clicking the Edit Icon Button.png Edit button or Delete Icon Button.png Delete button on the component toolbar.

Item types

Transfer order items have two types. The default type is Send. A send type item will leave the From Location and be sent to the To Location.

There is also an option to reverse the direction of the transfer by editing the item and changing the type to Receive. A receive type item will leave the To Location, and be received into the From Location.

If both Send and Receive type items are on a transfer order, a separate pick will be created for each location.

Edit items

You can edit items that are not yet in Picking status. The item must have a status of Entered. An item that has been partially filled, and is short, will have a status of Partial and cannot be edited (or deleted), even if it is on hold in the Pick module. The changes to the items will be saved when you either issue or save the transfer order. If you edit a transfer order that has already been issued, Fishbowl will adjust the pick list(s). To edit an item use the Edit Item icon located on the component toolbar.

Double-click the item to be edited, or click/highlight the item and choose the edit icon. The TO Item Details window will be displayed. Modify the values as needed, and enter notes if desired. When all of the necessary modifications have been made, press Enter or click OK.

3. Issue a transfer order

When all of the correct items have been placed on the transfer order, click the Issue Button.png Issue button in the module toolbar. Alternatively, the order can be saved in an Entered status and completed at a later time.

New Button.png New creates a new transfer order.

Issue Button.png Issue toggles the Issued status of the transfer order.

Save Button.png Save saves any changes made to the transfer order.

Delete Button.png Delete deletes the transfer order if it is in an Entered status. Issued orders can be unissued to return them to the Entered status.

Void Button.png Void replaces the Delete button when an order has an Issued status. The order will be voided, but not deleted.

Close Short Button.png Close Short replaces the Delete button when an order has been partially fulfilled. This button will close short the unfulfilled portion of the order.

Replenish Button.png Replenish automatically replenishes inventory by using part reorder level quantities.

Putaway Button.png Putaway creates a transfer order that will return parts to their default location within the specified location group.

To Pick Button.png To Pick opens the current transfer order in the Small.Picking.png Picking module.

Duplicate Button.png Duplicate creates a copy of the transfer order. The order number will automatically be assigned and the new TO will have an Entered status.

Email Button.png Email attaches the module's default report to an email, if email is configured.

Print Button.png Print sends the default module report to the printer.

Refresh Button.png Refresh reloads whatever is currently open in the module.

Fulfill a misc. item

A miscellaneous item can be fulfilled by highlighting the item and clicking the Fulfill Item button to the right. The Fulfill Item button is enabled once the order is issued, and can also be accessed by right-clicking a miscellaneous item. The transfer order must be saved after an item has been fulfilled.

In the case of a Ship type transfer order, the miscellaneous items will be fulfilled in the Small.Receiving.png Receiving module.

The History panel shows a log of the actions taken upon the currently displayed transfer order. Prior to saving a transfer order, the history panel is blank (because the transfer order has no history). Once entries are available, they will be in chronological order; However, you can change the order by clicking on the column headings. And, of course, you can also size and move the columns.

The Comment column displays a description of the event, such as Shipment Created. Some rows in the history will have a link to a related item.

Replenish wizard

The Replenish wizard provides the ability to replenish inventory through a transfer order. First, choose the Replenish icon from the module toolbar. The Create Transfer Order: Replenish Wizard will be displayed where you will have the option to either Ship or Move the inventory to your chosen Location. If the order is shipped, the order will be sent to the shipping module. If the order is to be moved, it will not be shipped.

Step 2 of the wizard requires the user to enter the To and From Locations of where the inventory is being pulled from and where the inventory is to be sent. The To location group will be used for not only moving Inventory into, but also for calculating the quantities needed based on each part's reorder points.

Step 3 of the Create Transfer Order wizard will provide the user with the option to apply part filters and Fulfillment Date filters. Choose Finish to complete the wizard. If the order was sent to be shipped, it will now be waiting in the Picking Module to be picked and sent to the Shipping Module to be Shipped. A Ship order will be complete upon being Received. If the order was chosen to be moved, it will be available within the Picking Module only and will be complete when Picked.

Some aspects of the Small.Transfer Order.png Transfer Order module can be customized by opening the module, clicking the Tools menu, and then selecting Module Options.

The characters entered in this field will be used as the next order number. Every time a new order is created, the final group of numbers will be increased by one. For example, Pier1-Order99-LA will be incremented to Pier1-Order100-LA.
When inventory is in transit between two location groups, it will be temporarily placed in a Transit location. This module option allows the transit location to be assigned either the To or the From location group of the Transfer Order.
