Sales Tax
Below are some scenarios that may cause issues with exporting taxes to QuickBooks Canada:
- Exporting a sales order with a tax rate that hasn’t been created in QuickBooks.
QuickBooks export message: QuickBooks error message: Invalid argument. The specified record does not exist in the list. An error occurred creating the invoice (FB: SO# -####). - Exporting a sales order with a line item tax.
QuickBooks export message: There is an invalid reference to QuickBooks Item "test" in the Invoice line. QuickBooks error message: Unknown Error. An error occurred creating the invoice (FB: SO# -####). - An issue can also occur causing the default tax code to be used in QuickBooks, even when a different tax rate was used in Fishbowl. Below is a partial work around to address this issue:
- Click the Edit menu in QuickBooks, select Preferences, and then click Sales Tax.
- Enable the option that allows for customer tax codes to be used.
- The invoice will then default to the customer tax code and the correct tax will be assessed as long as the default is correct in QuickBooks. Note that sales tax items are associated with sales tax codes. There may still be discrepancies if the default tax rate in Fishbowl doesn't match the QuickBooks tax code.
