Fishbowl Hosted Services puts Fishbowl in the cloud, allowing customers to connect to Fishbowl from anywhere with an internet connection, even from a mobile device. Fishbowl handles all of the hardware and infrastructure requirements, including installing Fishbowl, updating Fishbowl as requested, daily backups, and more. Because Fishbowl is hosted, customers don't have to worry about purchasing or maintaining expensive servers and networks. All that is required is an internet connection. Fishbowl recommends an internet speed of at least 1.5 Mbps download and .5 Mbps upload per concurrent user. Connect to Fishbowl Hosted Services (Windows)

Connecting to Fishbowl Hosted Services will open a remote desktop window. The window contains everything a typical Windows computer has: a desktop, start menu, icons, etc. Follow these steps to connect to Fishbowl Hosted Services.

  1. Visit www.fishbowlhostedservices.com and enter the username and password provided during registration.

  2. Click a link under Terminal Sessions to open a connection to Fishbowl.

  3. Approve any pop up messages or warnings.

  4. Enter Fishbowl username and password and click Login.

The size of the remote desktop window can be adjusted using the blue bar at the top of the screen.

Clicking the X will close the connection, but leave all programs running. Clicking the Windows Start button and selecting Log off will close all programs and close the connection.

Connect to Fishbowl Hosted Services (Android)

Fishbowl Hosted Services utilizes a technology called Remote Desktop Connection (RDC). Some companies may also choose to have a Virtual Private Network (VPN).

VPN

Configure - The connection only needs to be configured once.

  1. Download the Pulse Secure.png Pulse Secure app onto the Android device by clicking here or by searching for Pulse Secure in the app store.
  2. Open the Pulse Secure app on the Android device.
  3. Click the Add Connection button.

  4. Enter a name in the Connection Name field.

  5. Enter https://fishbowlhostedservices.com in the Url field.

  6. Enter the Username for Fishbowl Hosted Services that was provided during registration.

  7. For the authentication type, select Password.

  8. Click the Create Connection button at the bottom of the screen.

Connect - The app will remember the last connection that was used. Follow the steps below every time you need to connect.

  1. Open the Pulse Secure.png Pulse Secure app and then click the Connect button.

  2. Enter the Password for Fishbowl Hosted Services and then click Sign In.

  3. The connection Status should now be Connected.

  4. To close the connection, click Sign Out.

RDC

Configure - The connection only needs to be configured once.

  1. Download the MRDC.png Microsoft Remote Desktop Client app onto the Android device by clicking here or by searching in the app store. Other RDC apps may also be compatible.
  2. Open the Microsoft Remote Desktop Client app on the Android device.
  3. Click the + button at the top and select Desktop.

  4. In the PC Name field, enter the server name provided in the Welcome Letter. If you have VPN, you will need to enter the internal IP address of the server instead of the name (for example, 10.150.10.XXX).

  5. Your user name and password can be entered every time, or you can choose Add user account to save the user name and password.

  6. If you choose to save the user name and password, make sure that the device has a lock screen password for security.

Connect - Follow the steps below every time you need to connect.

  1. Click the connection that was previously created. If needed, enter your user name and password.

  2. When connected, an information bar will be displayed at the top of the screen.

    • In Touch mode, the RDC Zoom Button.png Zoom icon can be used to zoom in on the screen. Then drag the RDC Move Button.png Move icon, to move around the screen.
    • On smaller screens, it may be helpful to switch to Mouse Pointer mode. To switch between RDC Touch Mode.png Touch mode and RDC Mouse Pointer Mode.png Mouse Pointer mode, click the name of the server (to the left of the keyboard icon) to reveal additional options.
    • To close the connection, click the name of the server and then click the RDC Close Button.png Close icon.

Connect to Fishbowl Hosted Services (iOS)

Connecting to Fishbowl Hosted Services on a mobile device requires the Juno Pulse app that supports VPN (Virtual Private Network) and an app that supports RDC (Remote Desktop Connection). Follow the steps below to install and configure the appropriate apps.

  1. Download the Junos Pulse app for iOS by clicking here or by searching the app store on the iOS device.
  2. Open the Junos Pulse App. You will need to agree to the End User License Agreement to proceed.
  3. Tap Enable to enable Junos Pulse.
  4. Tap Configuration to configure Fishbowl Hosted Services.
  5. Tap Add new configuration.
  6. Enter Fishbowl Hosted Services in the Name field.
  7. Enter www.fishbowlhostedservices.com in the URL field
  8. Tap Save in upper-right corner.
  9. Tap Junos Pulse at the top to go back to main screen.
  10. Tap Connect to go to the Fishbowl Hosted Services login page.
  11. Enter your Fishbowl Hosted username and password and tap Sign In.
  12. Once connected, it will show VPN on in the top left corner
  13. Press the home button on the device to return to the home screen. You should see VPN in the top-left corner next to the WiFi and 3G network indicators. (The Junos Pulse app is still running in the background.)
  14. Download the Microsoft Remote Desktop Client app by clicking here or by searching the app store on the iOS device. Other apps that support RDC could also be used.
  15. Open the remote desktop app you previously installed. Note: At this point the instructions may vary depending on what Remote Desktop app you are using.
  16. Configure a new connection with the Remote Desktop Application using the following information:
    Username & Password (same one you use to log into www.fishbowlhostedservices.com)
    Hostname: Enter IP address of Hosted Services Server. (this can be found on the Welcome Page after you login to Fishbowl Hosted Services from a PC or Mac)
    Domain: fbihosting
  17. Connect to the connection just created to load the Hosted server.

Connect to Fishbowl Hosted Services (Mac)

Connecting to Fishbowl Hosted Services will open a remote desktop window. The window contains everything a typical Windows computer has: a desktop, start menu, icons, etc. Follow these steps to connect to Fishbowl Hosted Services from a Mac computer.

  1. Visit www.fishbowlhostedservices.com and enter the username and password provided during registration.

  2. Write down the IP address of the server you want to connect to (i.e. 10.0.1.99) as you will need it later.
  3. Once logged in, click the Start button near Network Connect. This will download and install the Network Connect application.

    • If you see a Missing Plug-in message you may need to download or enable Java.
    • If prompted to login, use the same credentials used in the previous steps. A small status window will be opened once the connection is successfully established.
  4. Download and install a remote desktop client. Microsoft Remote Desktop can be download from the Mac App Store by clicking here. Older versions can be found here or CoRD can be downloaded here.
  5. Run the remote desktop client that was installed and enter the IP address that was written down earlier. Enter in the Username and Password used previously or enter the admin credentials for your company. Typically the Domain field will be left blank, but if you are unable to login, try entering FBIHOSTING.
  6. Click Connect. If a message about the certificate pops up, click the button to continue.

A new window should open showing the hosted server desktop with a Fishbowl Client icon, Fishbowl Server icon, Windows Start button, etc.

Now that you have successfully installed and configured the necessary applications, reconnecting again is a lot easier. Simply run the Network Connect application first and have it successfully connect, and then run the remote desktop client and have it connect.

Mapping a Local Drive (Mac) to a Hosted machine

After completing the above instructions on how to connect to Fishbowl Hosting via a Mac computer, the following instructions will assist in mapping a Local Drive on a Mac to Fishbowl Hosting.

  1. Complete the instructions above on how to establish the Remote Desktop Connection to Fishbowl Hosting for a Mac computer.
  2. Once successfully connected click on RDC. This is located in the top left side of the toolbar.
  3. Choose Preferences from the RDC dropdown menu, then click Drives.
  4. Select the drives you wish to map and click OK.
  5. Refresh the Remote Desktop Connection by closing and reopening it. On the Hosted Machine click Computer; the shared drives will appear in the list of drives given.

  1. Log in through remote desktop so you can see the Windows desktop
  2. Press the following key combination to bring up the Windows Security Screen
    • If connecting from a Windows computer, press and hold these 3 keys: Control + Alt + End
    • If connecting from a Mac computer, press and hold these 4 keys: fn + control + option + delete
  3. Click Change a password

  4. Enter the old password and then enter the new password twice

  5. Click the blue arrow to change the password

If your password has expired and you can't log in, please call 1-800-774-7085 and choose the menu options for hosted services support (for example, press 3 and then press 2).
