IMPORTANT CHECKLIST BEFORE UPDATING TO 2017:

  1. If you do not already have a 2017 license key, click here to update your license key.
  2. Your database will be automatically migrated from Firebird® to MySQL®. This process can take a significant amount of time, especially when updating large databases.
  3. You must first be running 16.14 before updating to 2017.
  4. All shipping integrations will need to be reconnected after installing 2017.
  5. Any Custom Reports and Custom Integrations may need to be updated to work with 2017. Please contact the partner you purchased them from before upgrading to ensure they will work with the new version.
  6. If you have a Fishbowl Server running on a Mac, please contact our support team. We will need to assist you in migrating your database to MySQL®.
  7. Please follow these recommended steps before you upgrade Fishbowl.
  8. 2017.4 UPDATE - ALL CLIENT ONLY INSTALLATIONS WILL NEED TO BE UPDATED MANUALLY.

Recommended Steps to Upgrade Fishbowl

If you are on version 2016.14 or older:

  1. On your server computer, close the Fishbowl Client and exit the Fishbowl Server.
  2. Make a copy of your database (usually in the '.../database/data' folder in the Fishbowl directory). If you have images or custom reports, you will want to make a copy of those as well.
  3. Install the new version of Fishbowl on your server computer. Run the Fishbowl Server and wait until the database update is complete.
  4. On each client computer, the Fishbowl Client will automatically update the first time you run Fishbowl.

If you are updating from version 2017.1:

  1. On the server computer, close the Fishbowl Client and stop the Fishbowl Server.
  2. Make a backup of your database by opening the Fishbowl Server window, select Tools then Options, then right click on your database and select “Backup Database”.
  3. If you have images or custom reports you will want to make a backup of those as well.
  4. Install the new version of Fishbowl on the server computer. Run the Fishbowl Server and wait until the database update is complete.
  5. On each client computer, the Fishbowl Client will automatically update the first time you run Fishbowl.
