Handheld Hardware Recommendations

Fishbowl offers several hardware choices to use in conjunction with Fishbowl Mobile Warehouse. Although Fishbowl Mobile Warehouse can work on a variety of hand-held devices that meet the requirements listed below, Fishbowl recommends a select few that have been tested and approved for use with Fishbowl Mobile Warehouse.

Installation

Fishbowl Inventory Mobile Warehouse (Fishbowl Mobile) requires that the Fishbowl Server is installed on a machine with the Fishbowl Inventory Client installed.

  1. Double click on the downloaded file to start the installation.
  2. Follow the on-screen instructions to install Fishbowl Mobile.
  3. When prompted for your CD Key, leave the field blank and click Next.
  4. Fishbowl Mobile consists of two pieces: the Fishbowl Server, which only needs to be installed on one machine and the Pocket PC application which is installed on the device.

Running Fishbowl Mobile

Fishbowl Mobile requires that Fishbowl Inventory Server is running, as Fishbowl Mobile is a client to the server.

Starting the Fishbowl Mobile Server

  1. Click on Start > Programs > Fishbowl.
  2. Click "Fishbowl Server". This will start the server, allowing the devices to connect to Fishbowl.

Starting the Fishbowl Mobile on the Device

  1. Enable your Wireless connection.
  2. Tap the Start button.
  3. Tap on Programs.
  4. Tap on Fishbowl Mobile.
  5. Tap on File > Log in.
  6. Enter the Server Computer IP address or name and the server port (The default port is 28192).
  7. Enter your User name and Password in the appropriate fields (the user name and password will be the same user name and password used to log into the Fishbowl Client).
  8. The first time Mobile connects, you will be prompted to "Approve the Application" by the Fishbowl Server Integrated Applications window and allowing Fishbowl Mobile to connect to the Fishbowl Server.
  9. Tap "login" to access the program.
