Fishbowl SDK

At Fishbowl, we value innovation and we recognize that it often comes from third parties. That’s how Apple, Facebook and other cutting-edge companies have gained thousands of applications on their products. They simply let third-party developers have a free hand at customizing and adding to their software.

Opening the Door to Innovation

Outside developers are often better able to see gaps in a company’s services and then come up with creative solutions to fill them. That’s been Fishbowl’s business model almost from the beginning. Nearly 10 years ago, we saw that QuickBooks lacked many of the inventory management tools small businesses need, so we developed our own inventory software and integrated it with QuickBooks’ software.

Fishbowl's SDK

Just as Fishbowl Inventory integrates with QuickBooks through Intuit’s Software Development Kit (SDK), Fishbowl users can integrate their own software with Fishbowl through our SDK.

Fishbowl’s SDK allows third-party developers to log in and find the tools they need to build programs that work in conjunction with ours. When you connect to Fishbowl via our SDK you can also customize certain applications to better meet your business’ unique needs. Our SDK receives and processes data requests from outside applications in Extensible Markup Language (XML) via the request processor.

What You Can Do with Our SDK

By using Fishbowl’s SDK, you can do a lot of creative things. These include (but are certainly not limited to):

  • Creating new orders
  • CSV imports and exports (which are also available in Fishbowl Inventory
  • Cycle counting
  • Exporting data from Fishbowl to QuickBooks
  • Finding quantities of parts in stock
  • Picking products' tracking information
  • Printing reports
  • Pulling lists of accounts, carriers, customers, locations, parts, purchase orders, sales orders, transfer orders, vendors and work orders
  • Setting default locations for parts
  • Shipping products
  • Transferring inventory between warehouses
  • Warehouse logistics

The Fishbowl SDK is now open to third-party developers. Visit our Fishbowl Developer Network page to sign up and start making Fishbowl even more useful to your business by customizing it and creating your own programs to add new functionality. The sky is the limit!
