Fishbowl Inventory Control is the best inventory software solution for small to medium sized businesses using QuickBooks. I have been using Fishbowl Inventory for a year, and it has completely transformed the task of inventory control in my company. Fishbowl Inventory has several unique features that have helped make my inventory control an easy process. The most unique feature of Fishbowl Inventory is called the configurator. The configurator makes it possible to have different types of items in a bill of materials. The types of items available are standard, variable, optional, and optional variable. Standard bill of material items are items that are always part of the bill of materials and are always used in the same quantity. Variable items are items that are always part of the bill of materials but the quantity may vary. Optional items are items that can be grouped into a list where you can choose one of the items from the list in a preset quantity. Optional variable items are a combination of variable and optional types. When an item is added to a Sales Order that has a bill of materials, which includes items other than the standard type, a configuration wizard walks you through the variable and optional components and allows you to customize the finished good for each customer.

Another important feature of Fishbowl Inventory is the ability to separately manage inventory in multiple locations. Fishbowl Inventory uses a hierarchy to represent your inventory storage. The highest level of control is a location group; next, locations are created within a location group; and finally, bins are created within locations. For each part, you can set unique reorder thresholds and quantities in multiple locations. You can also separate users by location groups, which means you can restrict employees to working within specific location groups. By doing so, a particular user will only have access to inventory in the location groups the user is assigned to. This filtering process works throughout the software. I have had a few opportunities to work with the Fishbowl Inventory technical support team. They have been very helpful in working out all of my software issues. In each instance they were quick to respond, and they provided me with helpful solutions. I have seen a continual effort by Fishbowl Inventory to make improvements and add additional features to the software. Fishbowl Inventory's technical support team helped make my transition into using Fishbowl Inventory simple. I was able to take advantage of database importing to save countless hours of data input to get up and running. Fishbowl Inventory's best feature is its ease of use. Fishbowl Inventory was wisely developed to mirror all of the logical steps in business. From purchasing to sales, to packaging and shipping your products, Fishbowl Inventory is a full featured inventory control and sales software package. My employees have been able to adopt Fishbowl Inventory in their daily routine without a large amount of training. We started using Fishbowl inventory with QB's nearly 4 years ago as a somewhat small company. We have now grown to a $17M company and within the next 3 years will hit over $60M. Fishbowl integrated with QuickBooks worked great in the beginning and will work great when we are a $60M company. I love the fact that the sensitive accounting aspects of the company are separate from the materials management portion of the company. At any one time we will have 5 or 6 users on QB's with as many as 50 users on FBI with great performance. We love our combination of QBs and FBI. I do not see us ever changing as both QB's and FBI seem to grow with us.

We are a jewelry manufacturing company who had control challenges and looked at developing some proprietary (non integrated with QuickBooks) solutions before spending over budget for Fishbowl Inventory. We got a quality piece of software, but more importantly, a team of "can do" people who are incredibly competent, positive, client focused and I really felt that they were invested in helping us to be as successful as possible using the tool that they have developed. The software has helped us significantly in understanding our manufacturing costs and the real time value of our inventory. They went above and beyond what I would have expected to help us. We are very happy with our investment in Fishbowl Inventory (which we affectionately call "the bowl" or the "big guppy") and the team behind it. I don't know about you, but for most of the software I purchase you get basically no live support if you don't purchase some pricey support plan. The team at Fishbowl Inventory has built that support starter time into the software price and it made a BIG difference to have someone to lean on in the start up process. The ongoing support plan is reasonable priced and they actually answer the phone when you call!! If you haven't guessed, we're fans!

As a small business with multiple locations and thousands of inventory items we needed a complete inventory solution that didn't cost us Thousands of dollars. We spent months searching and trying out various inventory products that would work with QuickBooks. All of them but one comes up short in many different areas. Fishbowl was the final program on our list and luckily, exactly what we were looking for. It addressed our bar-coding needs and made entering inventory and writing up sales orders a snap - saving us hours of time and of course money. Integration was very simple and straightforward. We have concluded that our company, as a Distributor for Lennox Hearth Products and handling thousands of inventory items, have paid for our investment in Fishbowl Inventory in less than 6 months time just in saved man hours alone. I normally don't have time to write reviews like this, but I feel I owe it to the makers of Fishbowl Inventory for doing such a great job and giving me some extra time in my life by taking the headache out of inventory management.

We have been using Fishbowl Inventory since the beginning of the year and we believe it to be a great investment. The money was worth it and the hours of our time put in were worth it. When you are dealing with a swing set manufacturer like Backyard Adventures with as many parts as they have, you need some type of inventory management. Fishbowl Inventory was the answer. It is one stop shopping which, today, everyone loves to have. We can now keep track of all our parts and the cost, which allows us to see how much money we have in inventory. We will also be able to run our inventory level down at the end of the year so we do not tie our money up with inventory. Fishbowl Inventory is very easy to use once you understand the basics. It is an easy process to write up an order and print out an invoice. In the past we wrote all our orders up by hand and had no way to keep track of all our valuable customers. The customer support with Fishbowl Inventory is great. We have been using Kevin for all our questions and answers and he is very knowledgeable and is always quick to respond and help us when we need it. The other great feature with Fishbowl Inventory is how nicely in works with QuickBooks so our accountant will be happy at the end of the year.

We looked at Fishbowl Inventory two years ago and felt that it did not have the capacity for our needs. Instead we opted for a 100k plus enterprise solution. After an additional 20k in customization we still did not have a software solution to manage our inventory; needless to say we jettisoned our investment and re-investigated the market. We demoed three different inventory management software packages and actually purchased the least expensive one...Fishbowl Inventory. Fishbowl Inventory has the most robust and technically sound solution for our needs. We have several locations with thousands of different products. We added Fishbowl Inventory and this was a huge solution to our problems. It is very user friendly and accurate. It doesn't allow a transaction to take place without proper inventory. We have five offices, and each is responsible for counting their inventory. Fishbowl Inventory allows us to see how accurate each location is counting and helps us to better monitor inventory. Creating sales orders is so fast and easy. I've saved so much time by using Fishbowl Inventory. We love the new software and would highly recommend it to anybody with any type of inventory to be accountable for.

The Technical Support through Fishbowl Inventory is wonderful. Kevin helped us tremendously while we were setting up and training our staff. They were extremely knowledgeable and very considerate to our needs. The technical support department of Fishbowl Inventory made learning and understanding the program as easy as they could. BC Technical offers a full line of new and used parts (12,000 in inventory) for gamma cameras (Nuclear Medicine) as well as the fully refurbished cameras. The majority of the motors and mechanical parts are new and identical to the OEM's. They also supply ring and take-up cables for all ADAC cameras.

Need: BC Technical has many high value circuit boards that they often send to the original manufacturer for repair. With no standardized way of tracking all the outsource repairs and resultant warranty information BC Technical found that they frequently lost circuit boards or paid for repairs on products that were under warranty.

Solution: Fishbowl Inventory's outsource repair tracker and inventory tracking module allowed BC Technical to reduce their lost parts by 95% and their outsource repair costs by 50% resulting in a net savings to the company of $30,000/month.

Signal Seals & Fasteners is a distributor of seals & fasteners. Until recently, our business consisted primarily of seals. We made the decision to expand into fastener sales because we felt like the two products went hand in hand. This meant that our inventory was going to grow and we needed someway to manage that.

I have never dealt with a company that has been more willing to help. Every employee that I have worked with at Fishbowl has earnestly strived to understand my requests and provide the best solution for my needs. I know that I can count on the technical support staff. I was also impressed by the constant development of the software. The email capabilities and report features of the 4.5 version has been extremely helpful. I am excited to see what will come next.

Ideal Inventory Management Tool
We use Fishbowl to manage our inventory and integrate from our website to QuickBooks. It brought our processing time down from 3-5 minutes per order in QuickBooks to about 30 seconds in Fishbowl (about an 800% improvement!) We had also reached the maximum number of customers in QuickBooks as well, and Fishbowl let us have unlimited number of customers. Managing inventory by location is also a powerful tool to have... previously we had items organized alphabetically and our warehouse staff had to basically have the inventory memorized... Not very scalable! Fishbowl also does not deduct the inventory from your system until the order ships (not when the invoice is created, like QuickBooks). This helps keep track of things much better... a Real Pick, Pack, and Ship system! It also is much easier to import and export data from Fishbowl, enabling you to more easily integrate other systems (like ecommerce sites, etc.) into Fishbowl. The final great benefit is the ability to write custom reports... if you can imagine it, it can probably be done!

The best support
I've used many accounting, inventory and software programs and I've never encountered support as great as that from Fishbowl Inventory. I send an email and before I know it, I get a reply. And not just a reply- but a reply that actually answers my questions and makes sense. The program was easy to use and the online tutorial and help is great. If I were Siskel and Ebert I'd give these folks at least 3 thumbs up.

The Perfect Inventory Solution
Fishbowl inventory is the perfect solution for inventory control at the right price. I have been using Fishbowl since its 2.2 version and just upgraded to its 4.0 version and I love it. It has a great variety of features like serial number, lot, expiration dates tracking. It also let you enter various vendors for one part with they specific part number and price. The integration with QuickBooks is easy to configure and will save you a lot time with no double entries. Process all the orders through fishbowl, pack, ship, and then export to QuickBooks and print the invoice, it's that easy. Before buying Fishbowl I tried other software and couldn't find one like it for its price. Great product and will recommended to anybody that's looking for the right inventory solution.
